You are the expert
on yourself
Person-centred therapy provides a non-directive, accepting space where you can explore your feelings, discover your own answers, and move towards becoming your authentic self.
What is Person-Centred Therapy?
Person-centred therapy, developed by Carl Rogers in the 1940s, is based on a profound belief in your capacity for self-understanding and growth. Unlike therapies where the therapist is the expert telling you what to do, person-centred therapy trusts that you know yourself best.
My role isn't to diagnose, interpret, or direct. It's to provide the conditions—warmth, empathy, genuineness—in which you feel safe enough to explore your inner world, confront difficult feelings, and find your own path forward.
This approach is particularly powerful if you've felt unheard, judged, or told what you "should" do. Person-centred therapy offers something rare: unconditional acceptance and the freedom to be yourself.
The Core Conditions
Carl Rogers identified three core conditions necessary for therapeutic change. I bring these to every session.
Unconditional Positive Regard
I accept you completely, without judgment or conditions. You don't need to be different, better, or fixed. You're valued exactly as you are.
Empathic Understanding
I strive to understand your world from your perspective—not mine. I listen deeply, reflect what I hear, and help you feel truly understood.
Congruence (Genuineness)
I'm authentic and real with you. No professional mask, no pretense. The relationship is human, genuine, and honest.
